What We Believe

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life"
John 3:16

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of CrossCountry Cowboy Church | Columbia, TN based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Genesis 1:1,26-27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22

Jesus

The eternal Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, came into the world to restore mankind from sin. Through His death, He provided a path to redemption, and by being raised from the dead, He triumphed over death itself. Now, He is seated with the Heavenly Father.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is active today to make people aware of their need for Jesus and to empower believers to live the Christian life more victoriously. We believe the Spirit of God indwells every believer.  The fruit of the Spirit is the by-product of a spirit-filled life and evidence of spiritual maturity. The gifts of the Spirit should be earnestly sought and used to serve others and glorify God.

Mankind

Mankind is made in the spiritual image of God, but has fallen from innocence due to a willful choice to do wrong, leading to a destiny of eternal separation from God. However, through Christ, an opportunity for reconciliation with God has been provided. We are all invited to accept Christ, repent of our sins, and receive a fresh start, embracing the grace and redemption He offers.

The Future is

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ made up of all Christians, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. Respectful of two ordinances – water baptism and The Lord’s Table (Holy Communion)
